Attendance

Regular attendance in the classroom as well as in the laboratory and the fulfilment of required assignments are expected of all students. Attendance is taken at every lecture, practical or tutorial prescribed in the college timetable, including Value Education, General Electives, Social Awareness Programmes, NCC, NSS and Games etc.

In case of absence due to illness the student must submit a medical certificate at the earliest.

Students must be present on the re-opening day of each semester. Those who fail to return on the specified day after a vacation shall pay a fine.

A student entering the College after roll-call in the first hour will be permitted to attend class only after she has obtained a late-slip from the office.

Minimum requirement of attendance

A student will be permitted to take the End Semester Examination provided she has a minimum of 75% attendance per course (90% in the case of M.Sc Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Information Technology and M.A Public Relations and Bachelor of Computer Applications). If her attendance is between 62.5% and 75%, she will have to take the examination when offered next.

Students having less than 62.5% attendance will have to repeat the course, fulfilling the minimum attendance requirement.

The above is applicable for all Foundation, Major and Allied (Both Core and Optional) Courses.

For General Electives, students having attendance between 50% and 62.5% will also be permitted to take the End Semester Examination in the semester when the course is offered next. Students having less than 50% attendance will have to repeat the course.

Students who have attendance between 62.5% and 75%for a course due toany of the reasons stated below may be permitted to take the examinations provided the department concerned is notified of the reason in time by the parents/guardian. Verification of the facts will be done by a member of the faculty.

The reasons for which condonation may be permitted for a student are: Long term illness, major surgery and accidents which require a long period of recovery.

If a student has less than 50% attendance in a semester, she has to repeat the semester on completion of the course during the academic year that immediately follows i.e. after VI semester for UGs and after semester IV for PGs.

If a student has less than 50% attendance in more than one semester, she has to repeat the required number of semesters.

The decision of the Principal shall be final in all matters concerning attendance.
