Credit System

Stella Maris follows the semester pattern requiring SIX semesters of study for a Bachelor's degree and FOUR semesters for a Master's degree. The duration of a semester is about 105 working days and the working hours are from 8.00 a.m. to
1.15 p.m.
In the credit system, each course offered in a semester is assigned a certain number of credits, depending on the quantum of work required of the student. Courses have been designed with a weightage of 1 - 4 credits each. For example a 4 credit theory course involves 4 lecture hours and 1 tutorial hour per week. The credit thus indicates the weightage assigned to each course and only if a student passes a course will she earn the credits assigned to it.
