Admissions Eligibility

Undergraduate Courses

Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination of 10+2 pattern, AISSC, DSSC – CBSE, New Delhi, ISC, CISE New Delhi are eligible to apply for undergraduate courses.

Eligibility for BCA programme - Pass in 10+2 with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the +2 level.

Postgraduate Courses

Candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree of the University of Madras or any other university or insitution recognised by the Madras University are eligible to apply for postgraduate courses. In addition, some departments have specific requirements, as given below:

• M.S.W (Social Work):
  • Should have completed 20 years of age at the time of admission
  • Should read and speak Tamil fluently
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work / Sociology / Psychology / Economics.
  • Selection will be done on the basis of the candidate's performance in a written test of general knowledge on social issues, an individual interview and an aptitude assessment. Additional credit will be given to candidates with a distinguished record of service under the National Service Scheme, evidence of outstanding leadership and communication skills and work experience related to social work.
    
• Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Should have a B.Sc. Degree in Zoology / Chemistry / Botany / Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Nutrition / Home-Science / Biotechnology.
• MA Fine Arts

•        Should demonstrate an aptitude for art and design both in theory and practice in entrance test and interview

Eligibility Certificate

Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination of AISSC/DSSC-CBSE, New Delhi/ISC-CISE, New Delhi, need not produce the eligibility certificate of the University of Madras but will pay a fee of Rs. 200/- towards the same at the time of admission.

Prior Eligibility Certificate will however be required in respect of private candidates and those qualifying from all other board Examinations (both Indian and Foreign) except the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary School Examination. The fee for the eligibility certificate is Rs. 200/- for examinations passed in India and Rs. 2000/- for examinations passed abroad.
