Admissions Procedure
- Application forms for admission to all Courses are issued by the Indian Overseas Bank, Stella Maris College Extension Counter on payment of the application fee in cash or by a bank draft in favour of the Principal, Stella Maris College, Chennai.
- (a) Provisionally selected candidates for any degree / postgraduate course will be called for a written test/ interview.
(b) Receipt of an interview card does not guarantee admission.
(c) Requests for deferring the date of interview will not be considered.
(d) No information will be sent to the candidates who have not been selected for the interview.
- Admission cards are valid only until the date specified therein. Admission cardholders must pay the prescribed fee together with the following certificates in original on or before the date indicated on the card. The name of the candidate and birth date should be identical on all original certificates. No correction or overwriting without proper authority is permitted.
For students of Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board:
- X Standard Statement of Marks
- Higher Secondary Statement of Marks
- Transfer Certificate
- Community certificate in the case of MBC / OBC / DNC / BC / SC / ST
For students of CBSE or ISC:
- X Standard Statement of Marks and Pass Certificate
- Senior Secondary Statement of Marks and Pass Certificate
- Transfer Certificate or School Leaving Certificate
- Conduct Certificate
- Community certificate in the case of MBC / OBC / DNC / BC / SC / ST
For students of other boards (within/outside India):
- X Standard Statement of Marks and Pass Certificate
- XII Standard or equivalent Certificate and Pass Certificate
- Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate
- Provisional Eligibility Certificate from the University of Madras.
- Foreign students should produce details of their Passport and Visa (photocopies)
- For admission to Postgraduate courses in addition to the above certificates the following will also have to be produced:
- BA / B.Sc / B.Com Statement of Marks (I, II and III years) and BA / B.Sc / B.Com Consolidated Statement of Marks or Cumulative Marks Statement (in the case of candidates from Autonomous Colleges).
- BA / B.Sc/ B.Com Degree Provisional Certificate issued by the University
- Eligibility Certificate from the University of Madras (in the case of candidates from other universities)
- Candidates are informed that the original Transfer and Conduct Certificates produced at the time of admission will not be returned under and circumstance. Higher Secondary or its equivalent certificate will be returned at the end of the first year.
- A Student Aid Fund provides financial aid to
economically backward and deserving students.
- For the attention of foreign students:
- All foreign students must hold a regular long-term student visa issued by an Indian Embassy abroad.
- With effect from the year 2004-2005, admission of foreign students is subject to prior approval by the University of Madras. The University will process applications and accord permission subject to clearance
by the Ministries of HRD and External Affairs, Govt. of India. Applicants for
undergraduate Arts and Science degrees should pay the prescribed eligibility fee of Rs. 5000/- and processing fee of US $55 or Rs. 2,500/-.
- Fees once paid are not refundable.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS ARE INFORMED THAT THE COLLEGE DOES NOT ACCEPT DONATIONS FOR ADMISSION DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY. ANY MALPRACTICE IN THIS RESPECT
MAY BE BROUGHT TO THE NOTICE OF THE PRINCIPAL IMMEDIATELY.
Hostel
A limited number of seats are available in the hostel. Resident students come from varied social and income groups. Living together provides them with an opportunity for joint endeavour in the pursuit of knowledge and acquisition of skills, and the development of
good values.
Applicants are informed that Hostel application should be submitted along with the application form for the Degree Course.
