Bioinformatics is an emerging field in which two technological revolutions - Biotechnology and Information Technology converge, thus offering enormous potential to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Trained bioinformatics professionals will also be able to function at the interface of computer science and biology, infectious diseases, environmental sciences and biodiversity genomics engineering.
