One of the oldest departments in the college, it was established in 1948.  Courses on Indian and Western History are offered as well as the Vocational Course in Tourism. The department brings out an annual departmental magazine 'The History Update' and also organizes the annual 'Indira Gandhi Endowment Lecture'.
