Dr. Jossie A. Bass,  Founder & Principal, Alva Consortium,Washington DC. The programme was organized by the Department of International Studies and the Office of Public Affairs, US Consulate General,South India on 5 March,2004 at Stella Maris College. Dr. Bass spoke on “The Role of Women in Conflict Resolution & Peace Building:The South Asian Experience”








Dr. Daniel S. Markey, Policy Planning Staff,US Department of State,South Asia Portfolio, Washington DC,visited the department on 11 December,2004. Dr. Daniel Markey spoke on “US & South Asia In The Post Cold War Era”









Dr. Strobe Talbot,  President, Brookings Institution & Former US Deputy Secretary of State, USA.
The Department of International Studies and Observers Research Foundation, Chennai Chapter,organised a Public Lecture on 4 February,2005. Dr. Strobe Talbott spoke on “US India Relations In The Age of Globalization”






Dr. Muthiah Algappa,  Director, East West Center, Washington DC. Dr. Muthiah Algappa visited the department on 6 March, 2005 and discussed on “Net Working and Future Prospects”








Dr. T. V. Paul,  James Mac Gill Professor of International Relations Department of Political Science Mc Gill University, Montreal, Canada Dr. Paul delivered a public lecture on 16, August 2005 and spoke on “Globalization and the National Security State”.

Cdr. Dr. Vijay Sakhuja,  Former Indian Navy & Senior Fellow Observers Research Foundation, New Delhi Chapter. Dr. Sakhuja visited the Department on 24, August 2005,and spoke on “Maritime Security Aspects in Southern Asia”

Mr.Ram Narayan,  Editor Coordinator US-India Friendship.net. Mr.Ram Narayan visited the department on 7 December 2005 and spoke on “America & India: An Emerging Strategic Partnership"

Dr. Charlotte G Patten,  Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, York College, CUNY Dr. Charlotte Patten visited the department on 27 January 2006 and spoke on “ The Relevance And Study Of International Politics”









Lt. General (Retd) V.R.Raghavan,  President, Center for Security Analysis, Chennai Lt. general (Retd) V.R.Raghavan visited the department on 2 February 2006 and lectured on “India’s Evolving Security Dynamics”









Dr. V. Siddhartha,  Former Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister Government of India. Dr. Siddhartha visited the department on 24, February 2006 and lectured on “Science and Technology in Foreign Policy”








Dr. Stephen P. Cohen,  Senior Fellow, Policy Studies Programme, The Brookings Institution, Washington DC, USA Dr. Cohen delivered a Public lecture on “Indo-US Relations a Post Nuclear deal" organized by the Department of International Studies on 8, September 2006.








David T Hopper,  Consul General, United States Consulate General for South India. Mr. David T Hopper delivered the "Special Address" during the Public lecture on 8 September, 2006.









Dr. Carlos Ramirez Faria,  Academician & Historian, Venezuela Dr. Carlos Visited the department on 3 October, 2006 and lectured on “Independence of Latin America & Bolivar”











Mr.Tenzin Tsundue,  General Secretary of The Tibetan Youth Congress & Poet. Mr. Tsundue visited the department on 6 January, 2007 and spoke on “Free Tibet Movement”








Dr.Suba Chandran,  Assistant Director, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New Delhi & Visiting Fellow at the Center for Regional & Strategic Studies, Jammu University, Jammu. Dr.Suba Chandran visited the department and delivered lectures from 14-15, February,2007 & 21 February 2007. He spoke on “India’s Evolving Contemporary International Relations”.

CCS Interaction  The Department of International Studies and The Chennai Centre for China Studies jointly organized an interaction on 19 July,2007.The interaction was on “Emerging India-China Myanmar Relations”. Mr. B. Raman, Additional Secretary (Retd) Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India Chaired the interaction and Col. R. Hariharan, Intelligence Analyst delivered the Key Note Address.

Dr.Linda Racioppi,  Professor Compartive Politics James Madison College, Michigan State University, USA. Dr.Linda visited the department on 27 July, 2007, and spoke on "International Relations and Prospects".










Dr.Rajgopal Sashti, Associate Professor and Director of the Nine University and College International Studies Consortium of Georgia,Office Of the Provost for Academic Affairs,Clayton State University,Morrow,Georgia.Dr.Rajgopal visited the department on 6 September,2007 and spoke on "Current Economic And Social Conditions in the US:Perceptions and Realities".

Dr.K.V.Kesavan, Professor,Center for East Asian Studies,School of International Studies,Jawaharlal Nehru University,New Delhi.Dr.Kesavan visited the department on 17 September,2007 and spoke on "Japan's Foreign Policy in the context of Asia Pacific".








Ms.Ragini Gupta, Vice Consul,US Consulate General in Chennai.Ms.Ragini Gupta visited the department on 9 October,2007 and spoke on "Pakistan:Impression from Inside".

Prof.Emmanuel Sivan, Professor of Islamic History at the Hebrew University,Jerusalem.Professor Emmanuel Sivan visited the department on 12 October,2007 and spoke on "Middle East:A View from Israel".

Mr.Arabinda Acharya,  Manager, Strategic Projects, International Center for Political Violence & Terrorism Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, Singapore. Research Coordinator,Center for Peace and Development Studies,India, will be visiting the department on 11 December,2007. Mr.Arabinda Acharya will be interacting with the students.   

Dr.Swarna Kailash, Executive Director,Research Informatics,Amgen Inc.,California, U.S.A will be visiting the department on 13 December, 2007. Dr.Swarna Kailash would lecture on "The Ethical Questions in Genetic Engineering and Stem Cell Research".
