The Department of International Studies has committed itself to the task of creating a strong research culture at the postgraduate level.The department emphasizes constantly the need to acquire a core competence in research at the Master’s level.The department strives to meet the inquiring mind of the student and provides them the
necessary guidance in shaping their dissertations.

Over the past four years the department has been able to make research methodology as a core subject for the students, which provides them the direction and tools to conduct qualitative research. The research methodology paper has been specifically tailor made for the international studies programme and hence provides them the precise and logical inputs for research in this field.The idea is to make them fit for research work at higher levels in the arena of IR on completion of this course.The department has committed itself to inspiring in the students a focused sense of inquiry and prods them to pursue this spirit of intellectual inquisitiveness intensely.

The department is also grateful to Mr.Arabinda Acharya, Manager, Strategic Projects ,ICPVTR, Institute for Defense and Strategic Studies, Singapore for instituting an award in memory of his father Late. Shri Janardhan Acharya for the Best Dissertation.The award has been instituted from the year 2004-05.
