Department Activities since the year 2000
  • The department is conducting the endowment lectures every alternate years, and lectures are delivered by Prof. Geetha Srinivasa Rao, RIASM, Univ. of Madras, Prof. P. K. Subrahmaniam, Chair, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, California State University, USA, Dr. Roger W. Bernard, Texas Tech. University, USA.
  • A State level conference on "Challenges in Research and Teaching of Mathematics" (CIRTOM), January 31 – February 1, 2002 was held as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the department of Mathematics and some of its alumni placed in research centers were among the resource persons.

  • The department holds MATHZOOM, an intercollegiate competitions in Mathematics for students of city colleges since 2000 – 01, by staff and students of the department , which increases knowledge and instills confidence in students.
  • The National Workshop on Fundamentals of Fuzzy Set Theory (FFST), August 5 – 6, 2006. Prof. Shankar Pai, F. N. A., Director, ISI, Kolkata, Prof. P. V. Subrahmanyam, IIT Madras, Prof. M. S. Rangachari, Former Director, Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Prof. K. N. Meenakshi Avinasilingam Deemed University were among the resourse persons.
  • The Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, has sponsored (under the scheme Financial Assistance under FIST Program for the year 2006) the establishment of the State of the art Computer Lab facility and sanctioned a grant for the purchase of books with the aim of introducing a scientific computing environment based on mathematical approaches to cater the needs of teaching, research and industrial applications.

  • The Scholar in Residence Programme 2007 - 2008 sponsored by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia was organised by the Department of Mathematics with various Guest lectures on Number theory and workshops on Graph Theory and a short term course in Optimization Theory & Practice and also various sessions on Stochastic process, Numerical methods and Euler and Ramanujan numbers.
