Department of Botany established in the year 1979 offered Branch V - Botany as a major subject revised from the academic year 2001-2002 as Branch V-A as Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology in keeping with recent advancements in the field of biotechnology.

A vocational course in Food Science and Quality Control is offered as an optional in collaboration with the Departments of Chemistry and Zoology. With well-equipped and spacious laboratories, tissue culture labs combined with innovative courses, the department strives to incorporate the latest in the field of Biotechnology and Biology in its syllabi.
