From September 4-6, 2006, Dr. Sundari Krishnamurthy, Academic Dean, Stella Maris College, Chennai and a former Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Hillsborough Community College, Florida, and 14 students from the Public Relations Department, Stella Maris College, Chennai, conducted a project with Covenant Centre for Development (CCD), a CBO, in a few villages in Madurai.

CHENNAI: Thursday afternoon was a time for bus drivers, conductors and staff at Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s Mandaveli Depot to learn about the myths and facts of epilepsy from neurologist R. Lakshminarasimhan of Government Stanley Hospital. This was part of the Prajna campaign to demystify epilepsy of the PR Department of Stella Maris College (Autonomous).

Two PRSI stalwarts remembered :
While Stella Maris is 60 years old, the all-India PRSI body has completed 50 years, and the PRSI, Chennai Chapter, 40 years. It wasa red letter day when the Public Relations Department, Stella Maris, and PRSI, Chennai Chapter, got together to organise a memorial lecture in honour of Mr. Gyan Haksar and M. Goplakrishnan, pioneers of PR education in India.

On Gandhi Jayanthi, Oct 2, 2008 Mr. Ramasubramanian, Chief, Samanvaya and others revived the networking of people and institutions interested in ‘‘Community Access’’ (CA) by launching a newsletter of the same name (page 1). The Department of Public Relations, Stella Maris College (Autonoumous), Lead India, New Delhi & The Covenant Centre for Development, Madurai had in December 2006 had organized a National Conference and this is was applauded (page 4). Now Department of Public Relations has been enrolled as a Key Partner in this effort and Dr. K. Sundari named as Advisor (page 7).

The Department of Public Relations Stella Maris College and the SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneur Council (SCWEC) organized on October 3, 2008 a collaborative seminar on social entrepreneurship and on October 6, 2008 on Economic Entrepreneurship. Several leading N.G.O‘s participated on October 3, 2008 and leading service organizations participated on October 6, 2008.
