Mr. Kamalanathan, a PR Professional from Malaysia

Mr. Kamalanathan, a PR Professional from Malaysia and a member of Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (I.P.R.M) visited Chennai to attend the P.R.S.I, Chennai Chapter’s Seminar on ‘‘PR in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality‘‘ held in Jan. 2007.

He was invited to Stella Maris College to visit the PR Department and he conducted two workshops on :

• Public Relations in a Plural Society - Malaysia

• PR in Tourism & Culture in Malaysia.

Dr. Nabarun Ghose, Prof. of Marketing & Business, University of Findlay, Ohio, U.S.A.

Dr. Nabarun Ghose, Prof. of Marketing & Business, U of Findlay, Ohio, USA visited Chennai in the summer of 2007, June 1st week.

He was invited to Stella Maris College to visit the PR Department and he conducted a workshop on :

‘Public Relations in USA – Current Trends and Prospects’ Dr. Nabarun Ghose, Prof. of Marketing & Business, U of Findlay, Ohio, USA.

He was very impressed with the state-of-the-art curriculum of the M.A. Public Relations program. He extended an invitation to the department to participate in the international conference to the organize by the U of Findlay, Ohio, USA & P.R.S.I, Chennai Chapter in June 2008.

Ms. Debodayita Raha

Visiting Lecturer, Department of Public Relations

M.A., (Social Work) from TISS Mumbai

M.Sc.*(Research University of Reading, U.K. - *M.Sc. equivalent to M. Phil)

Currently doing her Ph.D., from University of Reading, U.K. from August 2007

Joined as Visiting Faculty in Febuary 2007 and taught till July 2007

 

Ms. Debodayita Raha has a brilliant academic record having obtained the first rank in Sociology from her school - La Martiniere for Girls in Kolkata in 1997-1999. She did her B.A. Sociology from Stella Maris College 1999-2002 and was awarded the General/Academic Proficiency prizes for all the three years of the course. She also obtained First Class and Gold Medal at graduation. She was a team leader in a field project in developmental communication paper which studied the social impact of Internet Booths set up by EID Parry at Nellikuppam, Tamil Nadu.

Debodayita went on to do a postgraduate in Social Work - MSW (Urban and Rural Community Development) 2002-2004 from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai where she obtained a First Class. She did field work placements at ‘Umerkhadi‘ which has seven institutes under the Children‘s Aids Society and ‘Akshara,‘ a women‘s resource centre. For summer placement she worked with UNDP. For the final year, block placement she worked with TERI.

Debodayita obtained a Felix Scholarship and went to the University of Reading, United Kingdom for an M.Sc., in Sociology with Research training in 2005-2006. Her M.Sc., dissertation was on ‘‘Historical comparsion of pre and post liberalisation effects on women in the labour market in India’’.

Debodayita worked as a senior executive (Community Development) for TVS Motor Company Ltd from June 2004-July 2005 at the TVS - SST at Padaiveedu, Thiruvanamalai and was responsible for Community outreach programe. She initiated a study project on the watershed development at Padaiveedu, Thiruvanamalai and invited the Developmental Communication students of Department of Sociology Stella Maris College and Dr. K. Sundari to participate in the field studies and edited the report produced.

She also worked as a research assistant for Dr. Manali Desai, Lecturer, University of Kent on a British Academy Study on ‘‘Historical comparsion of labour trends in Bombay Presidency pre and post Colonial India.

Ms. Saradamani Dey

Visiting Lecturer, Department of Public Relations

Executive General Management Program from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore

Achieved All India Level eligibility for UGC Lecturership

Since June 2004 with Reliance Communications (RCOM), Chennai as Senior Manager - Corporate Communications, handling Tamil Nadu, Pondichery and Andaman and Nicobar Circle.

Ms. Saradamani Dey has a brilliant academic record from school to university - she was awarded best all round student and Telco Hitachi award at Chinmaya Vidyalaya where she was School Pupil‘s Leader. She topped in both Biology & Physics in the School Final Examination. She was awarded best all round student at the Daulat Ram College, Delhi University for her under-graduate studies. Obtaining a post graduate degree in Zoology from Miranda House, Delhi University in 1999. She went on to do an Executive General Management Program from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM - B) in 2006.

She started her perfessional as a Account Executive with 20.20 Media and worked for a year from 2000 to 2001. She spearheaded business development operations & added 2 clients viz., Accel ICIM and Future Schools. From January 2002 to June 2004 she worked as Sr. Account Executive with Rediffusion-DY & R Brand Communications and created a national corporated brand identity as opposed to a ‘south-based‘ image. She managed the communication for the first national CavinKare Ability Award.

Since June 2004 she is Senior Manager-Corporate Communications, handing Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman and Nicobar Circle. Her Job role includes understanding the needs of various business like personnel and enterprise sections. She as raised visibility index (VI) through effective PR and CSR activities. She has functioned as the regional content provided for national intra newsletter-Inform and Reinforce.

Ms. Anuradha Oza

Ms. Anuradha Oza has a brillant educational track record. With a national scholarship she underwent B.A. Sociology 1985-1988 at Stella Maris College and obtained the Second Rank in the University of Madras. She was also President of the Students Union. She obtained a Master‘s Degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in 1989-1991. With a National scholarship and obtained the First Class.

She joined Unilever as Manager - tranining and from 1991-1996 directed Human Resources and Communications functions for over 1000 employees. She worked as Senior Communications Manager at Unilever, India/London from 1997-2000 and Co-led senior management team initiatives on external relations and corporate branding.

She went on obtained a British Government Scholarship and obtained Master‘s Degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics 1998-1999. She went on to join Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government 2000-2002 and obtained a MPA with concentration in PR & Human Resources. Her Policy paper nominated for Dean‘s Award.

She worked as a consultant to the United Nations, New York from 2002-2004 and led the first-ever project on Public-Private Partnership for the UN Population Fund (UNFPA). She then joined APCO Worldwide, New York as Senior Consultant from 2006-2007 and to care of Media relations strategy and implementation for health care, oil and government clients. From 2008, she is the Senior Manager and member, Indian Operations team of MERCER.

She has been Guest lecturer on Creativity and Leadership at Harvard and at the Columbia Business School. She is the founder of a non-profit, MotherNurture; www.mother-nurture.info connecting children with poor mothers.

Experience: 15 years in Human Resources, Public Affairs, Communications & CSR; in Aisa, U.K. and the U.S.A; in corporate, government and non-profit sectors.
