Events in the College

Campus Ministry
To foster the faith formation of Catholic
Students, the College offers the following activities : Charismatic
Prayer Meetings, Bible Study and experience in various forms of
prayer.
The members of the above groups meet every
Friday after class hours. These meetings are geared towards
developing and strengthening Christian ideals and Leadership.
Eucharistic Celebration
At the beginning of each year an Inaugural Mass
is celebrated to invoke God's blessing on the new academic year. A
Thanksgiving Mass is also celebrated at the end of the academic year
to thank God for His bountiful blessings and guidance.
The Annual Retreat
Opportunities are provided for Catholic
students to make a retreat during the course of the academic year.
All Catholic students are expected to attend the retreat.

Cultural Activities
Inter-departmental , Inter-year and
Inter-Collegiate Cultural Programmes are held annually in a spirit
of friendly rivalry and healthy competition.
Socials
Usually the students organise a
"Get-acquainted" Social at the beginning of the year and a
'Farewell' at the end of the year enabling them to become better
acquainted with one another.
Parent-Teacher Meet
Parents are encouraged to meet the faculty
members in order to facilitate co-operation and collaboration in our
educational work. Meetings are organized by the respective
departments.
Valedictory Function
A valedictory function is held for the
out-going students at the end of their course. It includes a
Thanksgiving Service and the planting of a commemorative sapling.
Foundress' Day
Foundress' Day is held on November 15th to
commemorate the death anniversary of Mother Mary of the Passion,
Foundress, Franciscan Missionaries of Mary.
St. Francis' Feast Day
October 4th is observed as St. Francis' Day to
celebrate the feast of our patron, St. Francis of Assisi.
Days of Celebration in the College
Hostel Day, Sports Day, NSS Day, NCC Day,
Union Day and College Day are celebrated during the second semester.
Prizes are awarded to meritorious students on these days. Parents,
well wishers and friends of the College are invited on College Day.

Annual Convocation
Approximately four weeks after the Convocation held by the University
of Madras, the College holds a function when the degree certificates
are distributed to the graduates.

Stella Maris College presents the annual college play “Antigone”
